Rafael Mantesso is the picture of human resiliency. Abandoned by his wife to just an empty, white apartment and matching dog, Mantesso used this seeming little to create something big.
In a self-submitted article on boredpanda.com, this artist explains how the optimism of his canine companion inspired the same in himself. Watching Jimmy Choo romp around the plain apartment inspired in Mantesso a similar zeal. He took a marker to the wall near the bull-terrier’s ear and created a new world about the emptied one. “Suddenly,” he says, “I felt this long-dormant inspiration for drawing, for art, for life-returning.”
Mantesso has since created a series of funny illustrations featuring Jimmy set against the same white background and markered, imaginary world. A hardback compilation of the best photographs will be available September 29, 2015 (preorder on Amazon).
