30,000 sparkling LED lights make Budapest trams look like time machines

As you probably know, Budapest is a beautiful and romantic city, and it’s even more special during wintertime, with it’s Christmas markets and lights creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

But there’s something you probably don’t know about this city, and it’s something that makes its Christmas time even more special:
during the winter some city trams are covered with 30,000 LED lights each. The real wonder comes out when you photograph them with a long exposure photo: these trams will look like time machines ready to travel through time!

The Budapest Transport Company started the tradition of covering some of its trams with LED lights in 2009, and it looks like everybody in town loves these sparkling cable cars.

You can see below some of our favorite long exposure photos of these trams traveling through the city. I’m seriously thinking to book a ticket to Budapest this winter, aren’t you?
