What happens when dogs meet birds in Photoshop? Dirds, a new digitally created animal species

We all know the incredible power of Photoshop, you can create stunning photo manipulations, make a bad photo look interesting, make an ugly person look good and another million things. If you are really good at photo retouching only your fantasy can be the limit.

A new trend between Photoshop artists these days seems to be creating brand new animal species. The species we are showing you today is a mashup of dogs and birds and is probably one of the most hilarious digitally created animal species ever made. These weird new kind of animals are called Dirds.
Dirds can be birds with a dog’s head and vice versa and the results can be totally funny at times.

The original idea probably comes from Witte Molen’s advertising series that you can see in the last three images of the following gallery. Subsequently this idea has been replicated by many people and quickly became viral all over the web.

You can see below our favorite picks.

  1. Why in the world is one of the images not included with the link? Why, when I tried to tweet this, was the tweet 25 characters over the limit? You guys aren’t making this easy.

    • Hi Susan,
an image is without the link because we couldn’t find the original source… As stated in our privacy policy we always try to give credit when possible. Also, we always give credit when the creator of an image shows up and claims the rights.

For the Twitter issue, we cannot do much, it’s an automated script that uses the title of the post, but you can easily modify the message…

Thanks for reaching out to us!

  2. These are all really cute except the black lab’s head on the crow… terrifying… looks like something from the mind of Stephen King.
