Bringing in an Australian Shepherd into your home is like gaining a very loyal, intelligent and sometimes mischievous family member. Despite being called Aussies, Australian shepherds did not originate in Australia. These dogs originated in America and got their name from their working relationships with Australian herders. Australian Shepherds are very loving dogs, they love to be close to family members. Having one can be like having a shadow. Although they do have the capacity for mischief, they have a larger capacity to love and to comfort their family.
