They say that everyone of us has at least one look alike in the world, and according to an old urban legend our double lives in the opposite part of the globe from where we are. Obviously that’s not real, but if you think rationally there are some odds that, between all the people lived in the past, there was somebody that looked just like us.
That’s what this gallery is all about: there are celebrities that have look alikes coming directly from the past. When we saw these photos we couldn’t help but stare at the incredible similarity between these celebs and their counterparts. For example Justin Timberlake is almost identical to a guy lived in the 1800’s, Jay-Z had a perfect double living in Harlem in the 1860’s and Donald Trump really does look like the General George Patton.

  1. Sir David Wilkie was a famous Scottish painter. I am actually a distant descendant of his. The image shown here was a self portrait he painted. Creepy how much he looks like Grint!

  2. Not all that amazing. I bet if you also traced their family tree you might also find they may just be related. I was not long ago trying to trace my family tree and came across and ancestor if mine who is my second cousin 5 times removed, which means that his great-great granpa was my 5th great grandfather and he was the spitten image of my middle brother. so yeah I am sure we all have someone in the past that we looked identical to.

    • Several years ago I posted on Facebook pictures comparing Jack Black to Paul Revere. That’s a real life look alike, not a fictional character. Absolutely identical.

  3. I haven’t read all the comments so someone else may have pointed this out but I think that Jeromy Irons looks more like Rudolf Steiner than Hank Azaria.

Regardless, this is both funny and intriguing at the same time. Great post.

  4. It’s amazing how much they resemble each other. I’ll bet if you trace their lineage back, they might actually be related somehow.

  5. The Jack Black/Barber of Seville comparison is a bit of a stretch because the Barber of Seville (or Figaro) was a fictional character, not a real person who lived in the past, as you pointed out; and the picture you compared Jack Black to was a poster picture. However, if fictional characters are included here, then I would include the following: 2011 American Idol winner Scotty McCreery and the mascot of Mad Magazine, Alfred E. Neuman! đŸ™‚

  6. Patton looks more like David Lynch. Oscar Wilde looks more like Cameron Crowe. And yes as many people have said, Rudolph looks more like Jeremy Irons.

  7. “The Barber of Seville” is not an actual person, it’s an opera and a character. The person on the illustration was probably the singer who interpreted Figaro.

  8. #2 You can definitely see the resemblance between Maggie and Rose Wilder Lane but I think Janeane Garofalo looks exactly like her.

  9. I’m thinking Ellen Degenerous is thrilled she was compared to a man. Not so sure about Glenn Close. The rest of them are very weak comparisons to say the least.

  10. Look At A Picture Of A Young George Jones And Actor Charles Esten (From Tv Show Nashville) It’S Uncanny The Resemblance.

  11. Uh…in #17…the person in the painted pic…opposite Keanu…is NOT… LOUIS MAURICE BOUTET DE MONVEL…that is the artist who painted him…the dude’s name yer looking for is Paul Mounet…a french actor of some small known fame…peaces~!! ~ xoxo

  12. I think that Jonathan Ross is a better match for Oscar Wilde than Hugh Grant, although I guess Americans may not know who Jonathan Ross is.

  13. Check out a book called “Return of the Revolutionarys”. Talks in depth of visual carry over from one lifetime to the next.
